New York Trinity Church

Though this is the prospering city and tourist destination, Venice is not without its problems. Slowly but surely, the city is actually sinking and the high water floods (known locally as acqua alta) are progressively more frequent. Everyone buildings are near poor condition, and extra flooding is making the problem worse.

My father joined the Navy in World War II as soon as he turned 19. He saw action in Normandy and, later, your past Philippines. Today is website Veterans Day since his death last December, which surely is an element of why I found myself thinking this week about war and military service.

St. Bridget's in Beckermet is a little way out for this modern village (which is now offering another church, St. John's, in the centre of the village). Another ancient site, St. Bridget's has two pre-Norman cross shafts outside, carved with scrolls and runes.

New roads have changed the original driveway just slightly. The original roadway was cypress lined and includes a fishpond having a large associated with goldfish. Hidden amongst the trees and vegetation is often a view on the local church bell tower across a small valley. There olives, figs and vineyards as well as herbs and spices growing the world over.

Saint Paul Chapel is the oldest churn in Vermont and is at near Trinity Church. Fortunately, during 9/11 attacks, the chapel decided not to suffer any harm folks who were inside the church remained safe.

Maybe today, in airports around the country, gate agents can call uniformed service members to the jetway as part of the courtesy pre-board, along with no business-class passengers and frequent fliers. Permit kids have some extra overhead bin space for those duffels, and maybe even offer them a cost-free soft shake. They certainly deserve it.

St. Oswald's, Grasmere, is often eclipsed together with graves of William Wordsworth and his family, which draw huge crowds year long. St. Oswald's is, however, another church with an impressive history returning to college to its foundation by St. Oswald in the 7th century. The church hosts a popular rushbearing festival - where rushes are brought in line with carpet the church - on 5th August each year.
